About

Lauren Hsu is a Boston-based glassmaker. She creates both functional and decorative vessels, as well as small sculptures and other objects.

Lauren took her first glassblowing class in 2017 at Urbanglass in Brooklyn, NY, where she continued exploring her curiosity for glassmaking by taking classes and renting in the hotshop until 2018, when she moved to Cambridge, MA for graduate studies. After a short hiatus from glassblowing, she found NOCA Glass School in 2019, where she resumed her study of glass, and where she continues to take classes and rent studio time. She has also taken various classes and workshops at the Corning Museum of Glass Studio.

Outside the studio, Lauren is a computational biologist studying mechanisms of immune evasion in solid tumors, and is working on a PhD in biostatistics at Harvard / DFCI. She also sings with several chamber ensembles, including Narthex, Vox Lucens, Night Song, and Carduus.
